I got this for my 10 yr old daughter. She loves iCarly and wants to collect the dvd's. This one is nice since it has the very start of iCarly which isn't often shown on tv anymore. I think this show is great for tweens. It's silly, stupid humor (but I laugh myself when watching it with her, I have to admit).My only issue was one of the movies (which is NOT on this dvd so don't worry) called "idate a bad boy" where it does have Carly kissing her boyfriend, sort of making out. I was surprised they did that because I haven't seen any episodes that "grown up" in content. But then again, Carly on the show is growing up and was 15 and in high school in that movie, so I guess it's addressing what really goes on in high school. It still does not show anything more than kissing though. So at least it does not promote anything further than that, but if you are very strict on what your tween watches, heads up on that iCarly one hour tv movie that airs once in a while on Nick.
Otherwise, I think iCarly is a great show for kids. Some may think it's more for teens rather than tweens but it was generally aimed at the tween audience. My husband and I get a kick out of the show too. (and it's actually good for parents to watch the "idate a bad boy" tv movie with their kids so you can talk about it together afterwards).
Carly's older brother is hilarious. The show features really great actors that all have a really good knack for comedy. I usually am rather strict with things. Never got my daughter Bratz dolls, don't let her watch scary movies or anything rated R even though most of her classmates do. I feel I can give in on iCarly. My daughter will start jr. high school soon and unfortunately I need to prepare her for what can go on at that age and what is not okay for her to do. It is good to watch the shows with your kids so you can talk about it together if anything comes up you think needs addressing. It's a good starter for conversation. And at least iCarly does not get raunchy. It also does not talk about dieting, nose jobs, or any of the issues I have seen on some teen shows which I find really annoying and unnecessary.
It's basically innocent, silly, stupid humor. Making fun of teachers, ya, kids get a kick out of it. As long as you have raised a child who knows to respect their elders in real life, this is comedy and kids know it's fiction. But we all know there can be those teachers you come across in your school years that does have something that they are known throughout the school for....in a humorous way. The show is a comedy, it is meant to be silly and overly exaggerated. If you have raised a smart and respectful child they will understand that. My daughter still is polite and respectful and does not get in any trouble at school.
I also recommend the iCarly cd if your daughter likes the show (and the theme song) and likes Miranda Cosgrove. She has a nice singing voice and there are really good, upbeat songs on the cd. Also my daughter was getting out of the reading habit for a while and I got her the Miranda Cosgrove biography and it got my daughter back interested in reading again which was nice. She was getting too old for picture books but not really into a lot of chapter books with no pictures yet, so it sort of fit a good in between moment for her.

iCarly is a good tv show. Both of my daughters enjoy watching the show together. This was a good purchase and I will be buying more to add to the collection soon. I think the show is clever and entertaining. iCarly is one program that I can sit and watch with my kids.
