Will Hayes is getting divorced from his wife with whom he has a pre-teen daughter Mia. One day when he picks her up from school after there has been some discussion of sex she wants to know how he met her mother, and how many other people he had been involved with, to which he tells her that he has had three serious girlfriends in his life.
At first he does not want to tell her how he met her mother, but then he decides that he is going to make a game of it. He will tell her the story and Mia has to guess which one of the three women her mother is.
He tells her about his life as well as Emily (his college sweetheart) April (the one who got away) and Summer (with whom he had a short romance with.) While Will is telling Mia about them she takes notes and speculates about which one could be her mom.
Towards the end Mia figures out who the mother is, and trys to help him get the girl.
All in all a good movie. Ryan Reynolds, Isla Fisher and Abagail Breslin are all great in it.
Definitely, Maybe (Widescreen) Overview
From the makers of Notting Hill and Love Actually comes the charming and irresistibly funny romantic comedy Definitely, Maybe. When Will (Ryan Reynolds) decides to tell his daughter (Abigail Breslin) the story of how he met her mother, he discovers that a second look at the past might also give him a second chance at the future. Co-starring Elizabeth Banks, Rachel Weisz and Isla Fisher, it's the heartwarming story that makes you realize it's definitely never too late to go back…and maybe find a happy ending.
