The first movie is a story about a family (of Russian-Jewish mice) immigrating to the U.S. in hopes of cat free, cheese filled life with better opportunities. The immigration theme is secondary though to the story of the protagonist, Fievel, trying find his family after becoming separated en route to America. It has great animation and a good story; it also has some potential for sucking the fun out of the movie and having an educational discussion with your child. Some kids might think some parts of the movie drag though--that's what I thought when I was a kid.
The animation on the second movie doesn't quite seem up to par with the first one, but is still good. We watch the same family of mice as they travel from NYC to a city out west called Green River, once again looking for better opportunities. Once again, we watch Fievel get separated from his family. Still yet again, the cats are their enemies, but this time the mice are bamboozled and believe the cats to be friendly. Apparently, their experiences in New York City never taught them to be cautious of historical-enemies-turned-friends. The pace of FGW seems a little faster than the first. My brother watched this movie so much when he was a kid that he broke the rewinder. (Back in the day when VHS was the predominant video technology)

Gotta Love Tiger - Shawna Jennings - PHOENIX, ARIZONA, US
Everyone should know all about this movie, and how truly touching some moments in it can be. It's definitely a "repeat" movie...meaning you'll want to watch it over and over again. 'Tiger' is side splitting in the comedy timing, his delivery in speech (voiced perfectly by Dom)and is just too adorable to not be real.
