I still remember when I was ten and going to see this movie and of course at the time while I laughed at some of the scenes it didn't make to much since at the time for me, now after almost twenty five years later and buying this classic I can now look at this movie fondly and remember the times of my childhood years. The movie was as the editorial gave was slapstick comedy between the comedy duo Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd who were two of the biggest comedy stars during this era(Sadly these stars as with most movie stars has fallen though) and doing a movie with the story input of the cold war at the time really burnt some people. The Cold war for most youths today is just something to read about or see on a t.v. documentary but for us growing up during that time the threat that we may see a nuclear war while not as nerve racking or as near as the Cuban Missile crisis it was still very real and the idea to make a defense against the U.S.S.R ICBM missiles were greatly more thought about than today probably. The spoofs throughout the movie are incredibly funny as we see the comedy duo who after being caught by cheating during the CIA entrance exam by the teacher are giving a pretty much fixed choice be given rudimentary training(Pretty much enough to get them passed some areas but not enough to be serious) and do a job given to them by the CIA directors or go home pretty much with no jobs. At the end the movie will pretty much appeal more to those who grew up during this era and remember these kind of situations more readily than today's generation(Naked Gun would also be a choice) as I also doubt that many younger people will remember these two as being as funny as we did during the 80's, but still is it worth it for someones dvd library I definitely say yes for this classic slapstick spoof...
