I can see why critics would be critical and the public would love it; it is a traditional good fairy helps out the needy tale. Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn, one of our foremost stage couples, scored again with this now 20 + year old story. Both have done deadly serious work, together and apart, but, like Helen Hayes, in her old age, they were happy to play elderly people in order to work. Happily, that made most of us happy, too.
So, on its 22nd birthday, I can assure those looking for family fare, that this will still hit the spot with all.

I've owned this movie on VHS and I was cleaning realized how much I missed it. So picked it on DVD. Brought it to a family dinner and everyone was begging to borrow it. Cute story, fun for all the family!
